Season of Creation

Season of Creation 1st September – 4th October 2023:

‘Let Justice and Peace Flow’.
This Season is a wonderful opportunity to respond to the call of Pope Francis to listen to the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor. As the ecological crisis worsens our newsfeeds are filled with stories of devastation, particularly in the most vulnerable parts of the world. Creation cries out as forests burn, animals flee, lives are lost and people are forced to migrate.

The theme for this year’s Season is inspired by the Prophet Amos who cries out: “Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5: 24). The symbol is that of a ‘mighty river’: “Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing. I will even put a road in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19). As we join the river of justice and peace with others then hope is created instead of despair, “for we know that things can change!” (Laudato Si’, 13).

To mark the closing of the Season of Creation a special Prayer Service will be held in

St Agnes’ Church on Wednesday 4 October @ 7pm.

Parishioners from the Pastoral Community are welcome to attend.
