Our Mission is from Monday 12th until Sunday 18th October,
and it will be supported by NET Ministries Ireland.
For almost a year now, the Parish Pastoral Council and I have been planning different events for this coming year
to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our parish. The main event is a Parish Mission which we are going to celebrate this October
and now that we have most of the final elements completed, we can provide you with our Mission Plan and hope you get involved.
Overview of the Mission
Each day there will be prayer events planned to conclude with a Mission Mass at 7pm with an invited Guest Speaker.
Our plan is to Celebrate Morning Prayer of the Church before the 10am Mass and after, to pray the Rosary.
Each afternoon we will celebrate Adoration between 2-4pm with the first hour guided by NET.
At 3pm in the parish hall a Prayer Session will be led by the NET team
. At 6:30pm each night, before the 7pm mission mass we will celebrate Evening Prayer of the Church.
Evening Mission Mass – 7pm
The evening mass of the mission will include guest speakers who will be speaking on the theme, chosen by the Pastoral Council to celebrate this Golden Jubilee.
That theme is on Growth and Growing, as Paul writes to the Corinthians ‘I Planted, Apollos watered, but God gave growth’.
The parish was planted, each priest and parishioner has watered, and we make space for God to give growth.
We will provide you with a full list of the Guest Speakers very soon.
Can I Help
Yes! There are many ways for you to be involved. Most importantly by Prayer. Praying for the parish and the mission,
that our watering may indeed bring greater growth. Another way to get involved is to join in with as many events throughout
the week as you can. I am sure it will be a blessed event for us all.
Appeal
One of the challenges we have is that the team from NET Ministries would need some ‘Host Homes’.
Basically, we would need some families to provide space for the missionaries to sleep.
They will bring their own sleeping bags/air beds and only need a floor to crash on.
They need to stay in pairs and can only share rooms with other members of their team.
Their meals will be provided for by the parish and served in the parish.
If you can host, we would be very grateful. Please let me know as soon as possible.
Thank you.
Bishop Alan McGuckian said,
“I have seen the work of the NET Team in the schools and around the
Cathedral Parish and it is a great support to all young people.”
